Awesome Apple Oats

Awesome Apple Oats | Serving Suggestion: 2-4

Preparation

1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, bring water to a boil. Add the apples, oats and salt; cook and stir for 5 minutes;

2. Remove from the heat; stir in the milk and vanilla extract;

3. Sprinkle each serving with desired toppings.

Apple Oats:

(2) cups water

(1) apple, chopped

(1-1/2) cups old-fashioned oats

Dash salt

(1/4 cup) low- or no-fat milk, or milk substitute (almond, soy)

(1/2) teaspoon vanilla extract

 

Toppings (pick your favorite flavor combo):

(1/2) teaspoon ground cinnamon

(1) tablespoon brown sugar

Maple syrup

sliced banana

Fresh or dried berries (with no added sugar)

(1) tablespoon peanut (or other nut) butter

chopped almonds/walnuts/pecans
