Brown Rice

Preparation

CCP: Wash hands thoroughly. Put on clean gloves.

  1. Place rice in hotel pan ( 20x12x2 1/2). Add salt and water. Mix well.
  2. Cover pan with foil. Place in oven at 350°F for approximately 30 - 40 minutes, OR cover pan with plastic wrap and cook in steamer at 5 lbs/pressure for 30 minutes.
  3. Let stand covered for 5 minutes before stirring or serving.

 

Additional Serving Suggestions

  • Use # 8 scoop to serve.
    • 1 scoop for Elementary age-grade level
    • 1 - 2 scoops for Secondary age-grade level

 

1 scoop = 1 grain/bread

  • 4 pounds long grain brown rice, cooked, without salt
