Black Bean Hummus

New twist on an old favorite, with a little southwest flare!

Turn it into a Witch's Cauldron for Halloween! Serve with bell pepper strips, carrot sticks, celery sticks or whole grain pretzel sticks. Let kids “stir” the witch’s brew bubbling in the cauldron with their stick of choice. Toss a few more black beans into the potion after it’s been blended – the chunky addition ups the creepy factor!


  1. Combine ingredients in food processor or blender, stream in olive oil.
  2. Process until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  3. Serve immediately or refrigerate for one hour for flavors to mix.

  • 1 (15 oz.) can black beans, drained
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbs. lime juice
  • ¾ tsp. cumin
  • ¼ - ½ c. olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
